South Africa, who won the toss, have been bowled out for 222 midway through the final session on the opening day of the second cricket test against Sri Lanka in Port Elizabeth on Thursday.
The brittle top order was again exposed with only opening batsman Aiden Markram and Quinton de Kock making meaningful contribution.
Markram was dismissed for 60 and De Kock for 86, his third successive half century of the series.
Vishwa Fernando with figures of three for 62 and Kasun Rajitha who took three for 67 were Sri Lanka’s most successful bowlers.
