The National Council of Provinces (NCOP) has passed the Traditional and Khoisan Leadership Bill. The Bill aims to make provision for the recognition of the Khoi-San people and traditional leadership. Eight out of nine provinces voted in favour of the passing of the bill, with only the Western Cape not in agreement. Member of the Khoisan National Council Wentzel Katjara says they are happy that the bill has finally been passed.
“I think it’s a good thing, the Khoi and San tradition bill was passed but we need to see something must happen, something must be done, by the President and Parliament so that we can know or they going to sign and after signing then the workshop where they say what they gonna do,”
