South Africa will host another major sporting event in the not too distant future. The International Netball Federation has chosen Cape Town as host city of the 2023 Netball World Cup.
The Mother City and Auckland in New Zealand were the only two cities bidding to host the 16-team tournament. It will be the first time that the Netball World Cup will be held on the African continent and the promise of investment in facilities and development in the region, were key to Cape Town’s success.
South Africa has a great track record hosting major events with successful rugby, cricket and football World Cups having been staged here between 1995 and 2010.
