The East London based Border Rugby team, the Bulldogs, has received a financial shot in the arm.
The Eastern Cape Department of Sport announced a R4.2 million sponsorship. The financial assistance will enable the province to play in all national competitions this season.
The Border Bulldogs were dissolved two years ago due to serious administration challenges. Players could not play in national tournaments such as the SuperSport Challenge and the Curry Cup B division.
The cash injection will be paid directly into the coffers of SA Rugby.
Players are excited by these new the developments.
SA Rugby has also appealed to sponsors to come forward as the cash injection from the department is for this season only.
