Electoral Commission CEO Sy Mamabolo says the IEC encountered some issues in KwaZulu-Natal on Wednesday.
Speaking on Morning Live he says the worst of these was in Bergville where polling stations had to close.
Community members were protesting and barricaded roads where even the police struggled to enter the area.
He says they had to close some stations but were later able to re-establish operations.
Talking about the closure of the stations he says the commission will have to establish whether this may have tainted the results.
“Should we feel the results are tainted enough, we can order a re-vote in those stations.”
He says the commission has the whole day to monitor the Bergville situation and will make a decision as the day goes.
