Gauteng Golden Fireballs coach Jenni-Lee Delport believes that the Telkom Premier League will be wide open this year.
All the 10 provincial teams will be without the Spar Proteas national team players as they will be featuring for the Spar Smileys team that will comprise of locally-based national team players.
Gauteng Jaguars have won the tournament for the past two years.
Delport was coaching the Limpopo Baobabs last year, a team that was not expected to win the tournament.
The Fireballs, Free State Crinums, North West Flames and last year’s finalists Western Cape Southern Stings will be the favourites to lift the tournament.
Delport is under pressure to win the title.
The Fireballs have announced a strong 15-member squad that will take part in the tournament. Delport will be assisted by Nomsa Zungu. She says it is a very young team.
The full team- Jana Kok, Nicole Amiras, Linda Mouton, Tinita van Dyk, Andile Tombeni, Lindie Lombard (captain), Marna Claasens, Alicia Oosthuizen, Jeanette Vermeulen, Pamela Chukwu, Mbalenhle Ntuli, Brittany Abdinor, Keneiloe Koasi, Keneiloe Mothibi, Kendra Szeles. – Report by Vincent Sitsula
