Mamelodi Sundowns Coach Pitso Mosimane has called for a goal-line technology to be introduced in the Absa Premiership.

Sundowns beat SuperSport United 2-0 in a league match courtesy of goals from Sibusiso Vilakazi and Themba Zwane.

Vilakazi’s goal in the first half goal hit the upright and went in, but it took a while for a referee to award it until one of his assistant referees gave it a green light.

Sundowns opened their 2019/20 campaign on a high note with a victory over their cross-town rivals.

Mosimane says the Tshwane derby is exciting.

Sundowns dominated the match, but could not convert their chances. Mosimane has blamed his team for show-boating and hanging on to the ball for long. He’s also praised some of his players for great performances.

The pitch at Lucas Moripe was very bumpy and dry and the two teams struggled to play decent football on the ground. Mosimane was not impressed with the turf.

Bafana Bafana midfielder Rivaldo Coetzee had a sterling game in the middle for the Brazilians. The former Ajax Cape Town player has been converted from defence to midfield. Mosimane prefers he play in the middle.

Coetzee, playing in the middle, allowed veteran campaigner Hlompho Kekana to venture forward more often. Mosimane says the Bafana midfielder has good passes and also packs mean shots.

Mosimane also commented about Percy Tau’s brilliant goal for his new Belgian team Club Brugge. Tau scored on his debut and he was very impressed with his goal. Report by Vincent Sitsula
