Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has backed the Springboks rugby national team to win the Rugby World Cup in Japan.
The tournament will commence from the 20th of next month until the 2nd of November. The Boks have won the Web Ellis trophy twice in 1995 on home soil and in 2007 in France.
Khune was at Loftus Versfeld Stadium where the Springboks beat Argentina 24-18 in their last match of the shortened Rugby World Championships in Pretoria.
The Boks have been in impressive form leading to the world cup. They won the Rugby World Cup in Argentina last weekend after holding New Zealand to a 16-all draw away from home.
They will face host nation Japan prior to the World Cup and Khune is confident they will do well.
Khune has been out injured since in the middle of last season due to a shoulder injury. The injury kept him out of the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has hinted that their captain will return soon but He did not want to divulge when he will return. – Report by Vincent Sitsula
