Chippa United have dropped one place to the bottom of the Absa Premiership standings following their 1-0 loss to Bidvest Wits at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane, East London, on Tuesday night.
This was the Chilli Boyz’ fourth loss in eight matches having drawn the other four games. Mbuyiselo Sambu, who was the Chilli Boyz’s caretaker coach last night, reckons that his players’ lack of confidence was their undoing during the match.
Wits defender Buhlebuyeza Mkhwanazi scored the only goal of the match off a Deon Hotto corner kick.
Sambu has added that their plan didn’t work out as their idea was to have Tercious Malepe and Lehlohonolo Masalesa helping out in attack where he had employed Andile Mbenyana and Rhulani Manzini.
Meanwhile, Wits coach Gavin Hunt says he knew that playing in Mdantsane was going to be difficult for his team as he believes that the Sisa Dukashe Stadium pitch is the biggest in the country.
Hunt stated that he would have been disappointed had the Chilli Boyz earned a point from the match as the Students created more goal-scoring chances. – Report by Monwabisi Jimlongo
