Chippa United became the first team to reach the last-16 of the Nedbank Cup following a 3-0 win over last season’s champions TS Galaxy at a wet Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday night.
Augustine Kwem netted a brace and the other goal was scored by Ruzaigh Gamildien. Chilli Boyz mentor Norman Mapeza says it was a good game.
Mapeza added that there were moments where he got worried during the game, especially in the first half.
He says the win is a good motivation ahead of next weekend’s Absa Premiership encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Meanwhile, Rockets mentor Daniel ‘‘Dance’’ Malesela, who faced the Chilli Boyz for the first time since he was fired at the beginning of last season, has attributed mistakes to their loss.
Malesela added that he had to make changes to his defence a number of times because of the unavailability of some of his defenders. – Report by Monwabisi Jimlongo
