Two-time Olympic champion Caster Semenya‘s representatives have reacted angrily after the organiser of the Diamond League event in Morocco said the Olympic champion had refused an invitation to run the 800 metres in Rabat.

Switzerland’s top court on Wednesday rejected an International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) request to re-impose rules obliging her to lower her testosterone before competing in certain events.

Event organiser, Alain Blondel, said she received an invitation but was unable to organise her schedule to come to Rabat.

Semenya’s staff responded with a press release blaming Morocco’s athletics federation.

Semenya said that she accepted an invitation on June 7. She booked a flight from Paris to Rabat for Wednesday but on the eve of her departure her agent was informed that the President of the Royal Moroccan Athletics Federation did not want the South African athlete to run.

Semenya said she had no choice but to return to South Africa.
